Q. What is webservice API?
Answer: It is a service provide by server over a secured and authenticated gateway. In a simple word, travel agencies use webservice APIs of all flight services to provide real time information on seats and price from their websites.
In case of Marketo, it provided its data to third party application over webservice API.
Q. How many types of API’s available in Marketo?
Answer: Basically, there are 2 types, 1 – SOAP and 2 – REST.
Q. Does the integration between Marketo and SFDC map every field that the SFDC integration user has access to a marketo field?
Answer: Yes, it maps every field from Marketo to Salesforce.
Q. In the main integration screen, I see 2-1 mapping and 1-1 mapping. What do these headings indicate?
Answer: 2-1 mapping says 2 fields from salesforce are mapped with 1 Marketo field. In this case, the 1st SFDC field to be mapped will be a Lead field, while the second will be a contact or account field. This is how Marketo handles lead conversion. when the visitor is a lead, the Marketo field is mapped with the SFDC one. Once the lead is converted, Marketo automatically map its field with contact or account field.
Q. I do not see the “sync lead to SFDC” flow action in marketo, does that take time to appear after enabling integration? I have had it enabled for 2+hours now.
Answer: It is not a usual case, it should be see as one of the flow actions in flow tab of smart campaign.
Q. Do I need to take any extra steps to enable the opportunity sync? I do not see opportunities as one of the listed objects to be synced between Marketo and SFDC.
Answer: You do not have to take any specific step to sync opportunities. But you need to make sure the Marketo API user has access to opportunities in salesforce.
Q. Finally, how do I disable the integration between the two platforms: is that done with the "Break Mapping" option?
Answer: The beak mapping is available at the time of first sync, After the first sync, the option will no longer be available.
Q. How does the Marketo integrate with Salesforce?
Answer: We use these 3 steps to integrate both the applications.
