Friend: I have defined the behavior setting already at the channel, what is the use of the same at the program level.
Me: So that you can override the settings.
Friend: Did not understand, what do you mean by overriding the settings?
Me: Why do you create channels?
Friend: To track the person's progress in the program.
Me: That's correct, Okay, let's say if you have to create 10 similar programs, would you create 10 channels for them?
Friend: Umm, of course not, why should I create channels equal to the number of programs. I will use the same channel for each program.
Me: Make sense.
Friend (continued): Because the purpose of creating a channel is to define the user journey in the program and track them where are they in the journey.
Me: Absolutely right, What if say, I don't want to track 10th program in reportings. What will you do?
Friend (murmuring): Hmm, what should I do, have to go back to channels, create new one..................blank.
Me: This is the reason my friend, we have analytics settings at programs. You cannot go back to the channel and change the settings. If you do that, all the programs will get impacted that have used this channel.
Friend: You are right. Thanks yaar, Now I got this.
